5–30 September, LAMMC PhD student Yaqoob Sultan from the Department of Grass Breeding, Institute of Agriculture completed a 25-day research internship at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Peter Paľove-Balang at the Institute of Biological and Ecological Sciences. The internship was carried out within the framework of a COST Action Short-term Scientific Mission (STSM) programme.
During the internship, Yaqoob Sultan conducted experimental work related to his doctoral research on the responses of Lotus corniculatus to drought stress. The study aimed to enhance understanding of how environmental conditions affect the plant’s biochemical and molecular mechanisms.
The experience provided valuable laboratory training in advanced molecular and biochemical techniques and strengthened collaborative links between Lithuanian and Slovak research institutions. The internship contributed to ongoing efforts at LAMMC to improve the resilience and nutritional value of forage crops under changing climate conditions.
